Evaluating involvement

    Key points

  • Collect feedback from YPAG members after each meeting
  • Obtain feedback directly from researchers
  • Record YPAG activities in an evaluation log

Example evaluation log

Building evaluation into your everyday practice

Some ways to do this include:

    1. Collecting immediate feedback from the YPAG on sessions delivered by researchers- having a short evaluation exercise or activity at the end of each YPAG meeting
    2. Supporting researchers to evaluate the patient and public involvement in their research – Having a feedback form which researchers working with the YPAG are required to complete after every meeting about how they found working with the YPAG and how the YPAG’s input will inform their work
    3. Completing an Evaluation Log as part of your own ongoing evaluation – doing a longer annual evaluation session (ideally co-produced with young people).
